Listen, I'm not from around here. I'm sure the locals dig it. In fact, I'm sure it's the "best cafe" in Watertown. With that said, there are some things that are universally frowned upon. Things like: thick, black cobwebs, black air-return vents, odors of tobacco smoke, lack of menus, no prices on receipts, dirty chairs, translucent & room temperature coffee. Now, you might say, "Hey, city-slicker, that's how we like our diners and cafes." And to that, I say, "I hear you brethren, keep on keeping on!" The one thing that threw me for a loop...the one reason I had to come on here and leave a review, is a dialogue that transpired due to me asking about something on the children's menu, for my kiddo. Me: "Excuse me, the children's menu says 'child's fish,' do you know what kind of fish it is?" Waitress: *Fully deadpan* "Yes, it's ocean fish." I've never felt so smart and so stupid at the same time, that it shook me to my very core. For what it's worth, I'm told the catfish was good, but don't let that name fool you, It's actually just "river fish."

Best fried mushrooms ever! The hot fudge cake was awesome too!! Friendly service in a nice setting. We will definitely be coming back.

DON'T GO AS A GROUP. My church took the excursion train ride to Watertown. We had a group of 22. We called about a week ahead and made reservations for our group to eat at the restaurant once the train arrived in the station at Watertown. We got seated immediately, but from there it went downhill quick. We only had one waitress and with a group of 22 all seating at one table we needed more than one waitress. The drink orders took forever and of course the drinks took forever to come out. The food orders took forever as well. The food was very sporadic coming out. About half our group was done eating before the other half even got there food. The part of the group that was still waiting on their food while everyone else was eating all order sandwiches. The food was okay, but nothing to brag about. The worst part was siting there waiting for our food and watching all the other tables around us without reservations coming and going and being served their food and drinks in a timely matter. Our group was there two hours and barely made it back to board the train in time. Also the waitress forgot to give everyone at our table the homemade yeast rolls they talk so highly about. I did ask about not getting any rolls as I was checking out and the waitress did tell me she just forgot about it and gave me some to take home. Overall it was a bad experience.

Neat place to visit in a town that is very small. My steak was a little chewy though.

Took the Train ride. Entire town was packed. Service was very good. Could benefit from someone telling customers to close the door. Air conditioner was ineffective as a result.
